Terry Funk is one of the most beloved pro wrestlers of all time, and you’d struggle to find a fan from any generation who has anything negative to say about the legendary competitor. And now, to illustrate this point, a simple photograph of the former NWA Champion celebrating his 79th birthday has caused The Funker to trend on Twitter.
Two years ago, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Don Muraco disclosed on his podcast that Funk was in an assisted living facility suffering from dementia. This produced an outpouring of support for the famous Texan who means so much to so many fans and wrestlers who he entertained and inspired over the decades. However, Mick Foley, a long-time friend of Funk, has since commented during a virtual autograph signing that having met up with Funk, the reports made it sound worse than it is, and Funk is actually doing well despite his challenges.
