Tay Melo gave birth to a baby girl named Luna in November 2023 and almost immediately began working out to get medically cleared to resume her wrestling career. Yet, while she would wrestle for Japanese promotion Stardom in January, AEW fans have had to wait longer, with Melo only returning to AEW television during last week’s Fyter Fest.
And now the Brazilian has shared the difficulty she has had resuming life as a pro wrestler during the latest episode of her husband, Sammy Guevara’s Vlog, explaining she really missed Luna.
30-year-old Melo was a top-level athlete specializing in jiu-jitsu before she began her pro wrestling career with WWE as part of NXT. Still, she never established herself in the company and was unfortunately released in 2020 due to budget cuts. Obviously, this was a massive blow to Melo at the time, but ultimately a blessing in disguise, as it not only paved the way for her to join AEW and be presented as a much bigger star but also led her to meet Sammy Guevara, with whom she has started a family.
