Writer/journalist Steve Rosen’s new book, Tonechaser – Understanding Edward: My 26-year Journey with Edward Van Halen, is filled with personal stories from Steve’s many conversations with his friend, Edward. He recounts meeting Edward for the first time at The Whiskey on the Sunset Strip months before Van Halen’s eponymous debut album dropped! He explains how he struck up a close friendship with Edward, the drug-filled hangs they would sometimes share, the artists he introduced Eddie to, like ZZ Top, and Steve offers insight into Edward’s relationships with David Lee Roth, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and his own brother, Alex Van Halen. He details the parties they went to, the time Edward drove them to Guitar Center to buy guitar strings… in his Lamborghini, and what he thinks may have severed their close friendship in 2003, and the sadness he feels about that to this day.
