Star Of “The Wrestler” Mickey Rourke Faces Eviction Over Unpaid Rent

In shocking news, actor Mickey Rourke is facing eviction from his Los Angeles Spanish bungalow, allegedly owing $59,100 in unpaid rent, according to the Los Angeles Times. Apparently, the landlord issued a three-day pay-or-quit notice on December 18, leading to an unlawful detainer filing in the L.A. Superior Court on December 30. As of writing, Rourke’s representatives have not commented.

“Rourke, whose birth name is Philip Andre Rourke Jr., received a three-day notice to pay rent or vacate the premises on Dec. 18 and had failed to comply, according to court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday. At the time of the notice, he owed $59,100 in unpaid rent.”LATimes.com

73-year-old Rourke, a former professional boxer who paused his acting career in the 1990s to pursue a career in the sport, built his remarkable comeback through the role of aging wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson in Darren Aronofsky’s 2008 film “The Wrestler.” At one point, Rourke was even going to wrestle Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 25 as part of the film’s marketing, but plans fell through. Rourke’s agents pulled him out due to concerns about his Oscar campaign, leading Jericho to wrestle Hall of Famers at the event instead. Still, Rourke would appear at WWE’s flagship event and memorably punched Jericho.
