At one point, Fastlane was meant to be headlined by John Cena and AJ Styles against Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. However, for storyline reasons, Styles was taken out of the match following a backstage attack by Solo, and LA Knight replaced him. Since then, the former TNA star has been absent from WWE television, although it has now been noted he is currently listed on WWE.com under appearing Superstars for this week’s episode of SmackDown, seemingly confirming his return.
46-year-old Styles made his name in TNA after spending over a decade with the promotion. He would only leave because they wanted to reduce his salary by 60%. This was incredibly surprising at the time, and it was thought that it could be the end of Styles’ wrestling career in American mainstream wrestling. Nevertheless, after a very successful run in New Japan, he received an offer from WWE and debuted at the Royal Rumble in 2016. Subsequently, he has become one of the company’s most prominently featured performers, holding the WWE Championship twice.
