It’s previously been reported that Cody Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against John Cena at WrestleMania 41, with the story being whether the Hollywood star can break Ric Flair’s record of world championships. Yet while this is certainly suitable for a main event, with WrestleMania being a two-night event, another huge match is also required. And now, in great news for CM Punk fans who have hoped to see him one day headline a WrestleMania, PWInsider.com has reported that WWE is working towards a triple threat of him vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins to headline night 1.
With Jey Uso having won the men’s Royal Rumble match, many fans on social media assumed he would wrestle Gunther for the World Heavyweight Champion to close out one of the nights. However, over the years, WWE has established that the winner of the Rumble can appear anywhere on the card, with Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and Seth Rollins’ Rumble victories actually leading to them opening the main show. Still, the idea of the main event of WrestleMania 41 without a title or a significant stake on the line is a bold decision by WWE and will require some great storytelling to get fans hyped.
