Before this week’s episode of SmackDown, WWE announced that Sheamus was out of John Cena’s “The Last Time is Now Tournament” due to a shoulder injury. Therefore, speculation online began that WWE might go above and beyond to find a replacement, given that they had already brought back Zack Ryder and Dolph Ziggler as surprise participants. Yet, it appears WWE didn’t have time to bring anyone special in, as those in attendance at the taping of next week’s episode have revealed that The Miz took the spot despite already being eliminated.
For those not following WWE closely, “The Last Time Is Now Tournament” is a 16-man competition launched by John Cena to find his final opponent for his upcoming retirement match on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. Based on the draw it appears the final will be between Jey Uso and Gunther, with most fans hoping that the Austrian is given the nod.
