Speculation Erick Rowan Has Re-Signed With WWE

Erick Rowan spent nine years with WWE; however, in 2020, he was surprisingly released due to budget cuts. Yet, speculation has now commenced online that he is back at the company because, following multiple Uncle Howdy teases, independent company ECPW has announced on Facebook that Rowan has pulled out of their upcoming show due to “new contractual obligations.” Subsequently, many assume this means a WWE contract, but it should be noted that this still needs to be officially confirmed.

“We have just received word this evening from Erick Rowan that unfortunately he will not be able to make his scheduled appearance next week at Coal Town Carnage. Erick stated that new contractual obligations are preventing him from making several dates including ours.”

Since leaving WWE, 42-year-old Rowan began using the name Erick Redbeard and became a regular on the independent circuit, cashing in on his WWE exposure. Additionally, he made a handful of appearances for AEW, although despite being very well-received by fans at the time, he never managed to attain a full-time contract with Tony Khan’s promotion.
