The Dark Order was routinely mocked by fans when they first began in AEW. Yet, once the late Brodie Lee joined the company as their leader, they would become a prominent group and start building a fanbase. Sadly, they would never get to realize their full potential once Lee tragically passed away, and while they would become big-time babyfaces due to their connection with the former WWE star, over time, their influence in AEW has diminished.
With original member Stu Grayson having already left the company after not being able to agree on a new contract and Colt Cabana being phased ahead of a return to ROH, the faction’s future has seemed in doubt for some time. And, now it appears another group member is set to depart, with Alan Angels removing AEW from his Twitter profile and tweeting that he is excited for what’s next. It should, though, be noted as of writing that he remains on AEW’s roster page, although typically, AEW contracts run until the end of the calendar month.
24-year-old Angels debuted for AEW during the April 8th, 2020, episode of Dynamite, losing a squash match to Lance Archer. Then to the fans’ surprise, he wrestled Kenny Omega in a competitive, with the bout going almost 7 minutes. Subsequently, he would be signed by AEW and became Five in The Dark Order, wrestling over 80 times for the promotion. What is next for the Georgia native now remains unknown if he is indeed leaving the company. However, he has remained active on the indie scene, so he should continue to be regularly booked.
