Last month, Slipknot’s Corey Taylor revealed that new music was coming, and today, the band has followed through by releasing the single “The Chapeltown Rag.” The song is named after the Yorkshire suburb Chapeltown, known for being where The Yorkshire Ripper carried out many of his horrendous crimes. Taylor would describe the song as “a punisher,” and it certainly feels like a return to the sound of the band’s early albums. You can listen to the track and judge for yourself below.
The song’s release coincides with Slipknot’s Knotfest event at the Banc of California Stadium tonight. For those unable to attend in person, the show is being live-streamed for $15 and features Killswitch Engage, Fever 333, Code Orange, Vended, and Cherry Bombs. Whether they will perform this new track or any other new music isn’t known, but it is possible. Full details can be found at knotfest.veeps.com.
