While speaking to wrestling journalist Bill Apter, former WWE star Jacques Rougeau confirmed that AEW will pay tribute to the legendary Rougeau wrestling family at its upcoming Redemption event at Montreal’s Bell Center. Although specific details of the honor remain unknown, Jacques expressed deep excitement and gratitude, admitting he has struggled to sleep in anticipation. He also reflected on his family’s overlooked legacy in WWE, particularly their notable absence from the Hall of Fame.
“QT called me up, and he asked me if Raymond and I would like to go to the Bell Center. He says they would like to honor the Rougeau family, the four generations. And so they’re going to have something. I don’t know what they’re going to have. I’ve had a few sleepless nights lately because I’m so excited. I’m so happy. I wish my uncle Johnny and my dad, who died, and my great uncle would see this moment. … WWE, unfortunately, they don’t talk about the Rougeaus anymore. And unfortunately, they never put us in the Hall of Fame, which I was bitter about for many years.” – Jacques Rougeau
The Rougeau wrestling family stands as one of Canada’s most enduring dynasties, spanning four generations since the 1940s. It began with Eddie Auger, whose nephews Johnny and Jacques Rougeau Sr. rose to prominence in Quebec during the 1950s. Jacques Sr.’s sons, Raymond, Jacques Jr., and Armand, continued the legacy, with Jacques Jr. and Raymond gaining international fame as the Fabulous Rougeaus in WWF. Jacques Jr. later thrived with The Mounties and The Quebecers. Though their in-ring era largely ended in 2018, the family’s profound influence on Montreal wrestling remains strong.
