Former H.E.A.T. vocalist Erik Gronwall joined Skid Row in 2022, and the band released a critically-acclaimed new album, “The Gangs All Here.” Even still, hard rock and metal fans continuously speculate if the band will ever reunite with their former frontman, Sebastian Bach.

Bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo have continuously downplayed the possibility, with Bolan even saying last year that a reunion wouldn’t draw the band much more money than they are making currently. “A lot of people say, ‘You can make so much more money’ [by reuniting with Sebastian] — well, not a lot of people, but a few people — and it’s not that much more,” he said. “It’s really not that much more.”

In a new installment of Gronwall’s YouTube Q&A, the 36-year-old Sweden native talked about how he felt being compared to Bach, and he also shared his opinion of Skid Row’s classic frontman.

“I’m gonna say this. I’m a fan of bands myself, bands that have had different singers,” Gronwall said. “I come from the perspective that I also have a certain singer that I prefer and you always end up — as a fan — you always end up comparing different eras and different singers and different songs and different albums. That’s part of being a fan. We have our preferences. We want to discuss with each other. That’s a part of the game That’s why it’s so fun to be a fan, you know, and follow bands.”

“So my answer is this. I really don’t care if I’m compared to other singers,” he continued. “I think it’s just part of the fun. And people will always have their preferences and their opinions. And that’s okay. I mean, do you know how much it would suck if people didn’t talk about your band? ‘Cause I’ve been there — I’ve been in bands where people don’t give a shit. Skid Row is so blessed to have such a dedicated fanbase. Even if you’re a fan who really, really, really wants a reunion, that’s still being a fan — you’re a fan of that era. Having people talk about you is the best thing that can happen for your career as an artist or as a band. If people don’t talk about you or if they don’t give a sh*t, you’re nothing. So I don’t care at all.”

“So I’m gonna be completely honest. When I see you guys discussing, arguing, commenting, comparing, I just bring out the popcorn,” he added. “I love it. So, keep discussing. Keep talking.”

Gronwall was also asked by a fan if he had ever spoken to Bach.

“No, I haven’t. And I’m gonna say this. I have nothing but respect for Sebastian and what he did on. especially the first two albums, because they’re favorites of mine. I grew up listening to those albums, practiced my singing to those albums, so what he did on those albums, and especially ‘Slave To The Grind’, is, according to me, top 10 best vocal performances in rock and roll history. I love that album.”

“If I were to meet him somewhere, I would love to just shake his hand and introduce myself and say ‘thank you for the inspiration.’ Obviously, I’ve seen some posts where it says that he’s jabbing at me, but that’s just fun,” he added.
