Shawn Michaels Addresses His Notoriously Bad Match In Saudi Arabia

Shawn Michaels retired from the ring in 2010 following one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time against The Undertaker. Yet, he would return for a “glorified house show” match, as he described it, eight years later at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia for a reported $3 million payday.

However, the less said about the actual bout, the better, as it is generally considered one of the worst high-profile matches of all time. And now, while appearing on The Undertaker’s podcast, Michaels has commented on the match, jokingly saying, “The wheels fell off, and then it got ugly.

“It so doesn’t bother me. All right, I don’t care, if that’s gonna be the one out of the whatever the 599 that went fantastic. You put one blemish on it, and that’s going to, I could care less, no one could badger me enough to make me feel bad about that … The wheels fell off, and then it got ugly.”Shawn Michaels

Earlier this year, former WWE talent Fandango revealed during an interview that 60-year-old Michaels had told him he’s still got one or two matches left in him. Of course, whether this will actually lead to him returning to the ring is unconfirmed. Still, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer has previously put over current star AJ Styles as the person he’d be most open to facing, noting they both have similar attributes, and it’s the match he thinks the fans would most want.
