Seth Rollins Reveals Whether The Shield Are Still Close

To a generation of wrestling fans, The Shield is the top wrestling group of all time, and while their run wasn’t as long as some other groups, they will live on in fans’ memories for a long time. Therefore it’s somewhat sad to read in a recent interview conducted by Metro with Seth Rollins that the trio is no longer close, with Roman Reigns on a different brand to him and Jon Moxley working for AEW.

None of us are as close as we were, and we may never be as close as we were during those first two years. Everyone’s off doing their own thing, we’re all on separate shows. Roman and I see each other occasionally at the pay-per-views if he’s on those, and neither of us see Mox ever. He’s busy doing his own thing, whether it’s AEW or GCW or New Japan – wherever he wants to show up!

Obviously, the bond isn’t as close but it will always exist in the same way that the Horsemen are always gonna be the Horsemen, the nWo are always gonna be the nWo, The Shield has that type of aura about it, there’s always gonna be a connection there, no matter what happens or which directions we go.

The success of The Shield post-split may be unparalleled, as even though the original three members of the nWo were hugely successful stars never all achieved world championship status, with Scott Hall missing out. Therefore WWE putting The Shield together to create three stars, all from developmental, can only be put down as a monumental success. Sadly though, for fans of the group, it seems doubtful they will reunite again, as with Reigns’ long-term goals being in acting and Moxley having just signed a five-year AEW contract getting them all together at the same time may prove impossible.
