Pro wrestling is known for being a very dog-eat-dog business, but occasionally, the industry does come together to help those in need. And now, in a perfect example of this, Scott D’Amore has donated a staggering $15,932 to Sabu’s GoFundMe, which was set up to cover his funeral expenses, having offered on X to match other donations.
Therefore, this has smashed the target of $25,000, with the total as of writing sitting at $48,149, also thanks to Chris Jericho, Joey Janela, Brian Myers, and popular YouTuber Justin Whang.
50-year-old D’Amore broke into the business at the age of just 16 and, within a few years, was working for WWE and WCW as an enhancement talent. Since then, he has established himself as both an excellent promoter and booker, which made it surprising that TNA fired him last year from the position of President. And while it was believed he would subsequently walk into a job with either WWE or AEW once his non-compete expired, D’Amore decided to be his own boss by relaunching Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling.
