Samoa Joe Comments On All In Backstage Altercation Between CM Punk & Jack Perry

CM Punk vs. Samoa Joe kicked off the main All In card last month; however, the match almost didn’t take place due to Punk and Jack Perry’s now notorious backstage confrontation. Thankfully, the bout still took place thanks to Joe’s leadership skills and ability to help de-escalate the situation. And now, in an interview with the New York Post, the former WWE and TNA star has commented on the incident, noting it wasn’t very intense to him and he was just focused on getting the match in the ring.

“For the most part, I haven’t read what’s been portrayed. There’s been so much said. I’m not the one to go out there and try to debunk everything. I know we had the initial incident. Everybody rallied. Everybody got together. Got their heads together and lined up and got ready to do the show and we went out there and we did the show.”

“I’m used to that environment. Those things don’t seem very intense to me, but it could be something crazy intense to someone else. I wasn’t really affected by the moment. I was more focused on getting the show back on track and getting us going because it was bell time.”

The day following the altercation, Punk and Perry were suspended by AEW, and Punk was subsequently fired as this wasn’t the first time things had gotten physical between himself and another talent. And while this decision has disappointed many, at least fans have his memorable AEW in-ring run to look back at fondly, which, thanks to his match with Joe, finished on a high.
