WWE previously advertised Rob Van Dam as appearing at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia next year. However, following his AEW debut, the ECW original said that despite getting WWE’s permission beforehand, he suspected he would end up being unbooked for WrestleMania 40. And now, during the latest episode of his podcast, he has confirmed that is what has happened, although, on a positive note, he would also reveal he has picked up an alternative booking.
“I got a phone call, I picked up because it was from the big company, and had a little talk and got officially unbooked from Philly. About 30 minutes later, I got another message. Got officially rebooked in Philly from another company. So that was pretty good.”
RVDVan Dam made his AEW television debut in August, appearing on Dynamite to challenge then FTW Champion Jack Perry. Still, despite losing the subsequent match, he clearly impressed AEW management with his performance. That was evident because he later returned in September to team with Hook on Collision and is now set to resume that tag team during this week’s Dynamite.
