The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame released the nominees for the Class Of 2025 on Wednesday. A nomination means an artist is being considered for induction but doesn’t guarantee a spot in the Hall. This year’s nominees are Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Mana, Oasis, Outkast, Phish, Soundgarden and The White Stripes.
“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame honors and celebrates,” Rock Hall chairman John Sykes said. “Continuing in the true spirit of rock and roll, these artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”
Several notable rock and metal acts aren’t even being considered this year. The lengthy list includes Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Thin Lizzy, Motley Crue, Pantera, Megadeth, Dio, Blue Oyster Cult, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Eddie Money, Bryan Adams, Ted Nugent, Meatloaf, Sammy Hagar, Survivor, Boston, Alice In Chains, Jethro Tull, Huey Lewis & The News, The B52s and The Smashing Pumpkins, among others.
Inductees will be revealed in late April. The induction ceremony is set to take place in Los Angeles this fall.
