Robert Roode Working New Role

Robert Roode Working New Role

Robert Roode has undergone at least two neck surgeries since he last wrestled for WWE in June 2022, and some have speculated that his career could be over aged just 47. And while that still remains unknown, it has been reported by PWInsider.com that at SummerSlam and the following episode of Raw, he will be working as a backstage producer, which involves putting matches together with the talents. Whether this will be as a tryout or will be a full-time role hasn’t been specified.

“As PWInsider.com broke yesterday, Bobby Roode is in town in Detroit for Summerslam. In asking around today, we are told he will be helping out as a Producer and will also be at Raw this Monday in that role.”

Roode departed TNA after 12 years and almost 800 matches in 2016 and somewhat surprisingly signed with WWE a few months later to be part of their NXT brand. He would go on to win the NXT Championship from Shinsuke Nakamura, becoming the oldest NXT champion in the process.

Then following a seven-month reign that ended at the hands of Drew McIntyre, he would begin to transition to SmackDown while still wrestling NXT matches. Once on the main roster, he would become a solid midcarder holding the United States Championship before becoming a tag team competitor holding championship gold, first with Chad Gable and then Dolph Ziggler as The Dirty Dawgs.
