Rob Zombie directed the reboot of the storied “Halloween” franchise in 2007. His film was a reimagining of John Carpenter’s vision, and Zombie created an origin story for villain Michael Myers. He also replaced Jamie Lee Curtis’ role of Laurie Strode with actress Scout Taylor Compton, who also starred as Lita Ford in the The Runaways.

Zombie’s “Halloween II” came out in 2009 but was a box office and critical flop. The director/rocker declined to film “Halloween 3D,” and the franchise remained dormant until 2018 when director David Gordon Green began making “Halloween” movies again. His trilogy ended this year with “Halloween Ends,” which came out earlier this month.

Zombie posted a meme on his Facebook page and said fans have been sending him various funny creations about the “Halloween” franchises.

The meme shows a horror nerd In 2007, saying, “In my expert opinion Rob Zombie ruined the Halloween franchise.” In 2022, the nerd reverses course, saying, in his expert opinion, “… Zombie saved the Halloween franchise.”

Zombie commented: “I have been getting bombarded with these and it just keeps on getting funnier and funnier. FYI – I have no opinion on the new films. I haven’t seen them yet. My experience with making my films was so insane it really burnt me out on Halloween. Sad but true. I just think the internet is hilarious.”

Zombie released his film reboot of “The Munsters” earlier this year to a mixed reaction. The director previously admitted to The Pulse Of Radio that it’s been challenging for him to break out of the horror genre.

“The movies I’ve made up to this point have been pretty dark and pretty much in that world because those are the opportunities that were presented,” he explained. “You know, the people that put up the money for these things know that if I stick to that sort of thing, it’s easily more profitable. So it’s a much bigger challenge to break out of it.”
