Rumors have swirled around the future of Linkin Park in recent months. Orgy frontman Jay Gordon got fans talking when he hinted that the band was going to continue with a female singer replacing the late Chester Bennington.
Further rumors had fans speculating that Evanescence singer Amy Lee might fill the role, though she said that’s not the case but that she might consider stepping in part-time if approached.
“That’s really sweet,” Lee said of rumors she would join the band. “We never… Well, did we play shows? I don’t know if we were on a festival together or whatever. We met. We were in the studio at the same time. When we were making ‘Fallen’, I just briefly got to have a conversation or two with Chester. He was really sweet. But no, it’s not true (that I’m the new singer). But that’s awesome. They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part time.”
Billboard is now reporting that the band is fielding offers for a possible reunion in 2025, and as Gordon said, the band will likely have a female vocalist. The band’s booking agency, WME, is currently taking offers for a potential tour along with headlining festival dates that would feature Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell, according to Billboard.
In a recent interview with Revolver, Shinoda downplayed the possibility of a reunion. “Rumors always go around,” he said. “People always ask what’s next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there’s something to tell you, we will tell you. When there’s an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you’re hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it.”
