Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage stole the show at WrestleMania III, and for several years was considered the greatest WWE match in history. And now his son Richie, who was also briefly a pro wrestler himself, has shared a photograph of his father’s payslip from the match on Instagram. This reveals the WWE Hall of Famer was paid $50,000 for the match, which in today’s money would be around$142,000. Additionally, it shows that Steamboat took a $200 advance, which was commonplace at the time for WWE wrestlers, who needed spending cash while on the road.

Steamboat was unfortunately forced to retire in the 90s due to a severe back injury sustained while working for WCW. Nevertheless, he returned to the ring 15 years later at WrestleMania 25 alongside Jimmy Snuka and Roddy Piper against Chris Jericho in a match remembered for Steamboat looking like he hadn’t missed a day from the ring.
