It was known that appearing in an official WWE video game resulted in a substantial payday, with some wrestlers noting that it was one of the largest checks they received all year. However, it appears those days are in the past, as when asked about missing out on WWE2K 2025 due to being with AEW, Ric Flair would play this down during a new interview, saying that only cover stars receive the money nowadays, and he was therefore missing out on approximately 0.3%. However, as he didn’t specify what this percentage was based on, it is hard to determine an amount and whether talents are being underpaid for their likeness.
As mentioned by Flair, the 76-year-old is currently signed to AEW, having debuted for the company in October 2023. Yet despite it being announced soon afterward that he had signed a multi-year contract, Tony Khan soon phased him out after learning the 16-time world champion was on blood-thinning medication and wisely didn’t want to risk a potential disaster in the ring. Still, if the multi-year deal was just for two years, it appears Flair will be a free agent shortly and could soon return to fans’ screens for another promotion.
