WWE released Shayna Baszler in May, and therefore, it was thought the next stage of her career would be on the indies once her non-compete expired. However, it now appears her future could be back with WWE in a backstage role. This is because, according to Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net, the 44-year-old was shadowing Oney Lorcan at this week’s NXT taping in a producer role for Kelani Jordan vs. Lainey Reid.
Following an MMA career that saw her compete in the UFC, Baszler turned her focus to pro wrestling, training under Josh Barnett in 2015. From there, she worked indies and for Stardom in Japan, and she signed up with WWE in 2017. Subsequently, she held the NXT Women’s Championship twice, although she never achieved the same level of success on the main roster despite getting to work a high-profile feud with Ronda Rousey.
