While he is best known nowadays as the father of Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas, 67-year-old Mike Rotunda was a highly regarded wrestler in his prime, working under the names Irwin R. Schyster and Michael Wallstreet. And now, during a new interview with Bill Apter, Rotunda’s former tag partner and brother-in-law, Barry Windham has sadly revealed the WWE Hall of Fame member is receiving hospice care, going on to ask fans “to pray for Mike.“
Rotunda debuted in 1981 and, three years later, joined WWE, going on to win two Tag Team Championships alongside Windham. Still, once Windham left WWE, Rotunda was deemed surplus to requirements and went on to work in Japan, the AWA, and Jim Crockett Promotions.
However, when Vince McMahon needed someone to portray a sneaky IRS tax collector, he turned to Rotunda, who would memorably call fans “tax cheats” and insist they “pay their fair share”. This run saw him share a ring with the likes of The Undertaker, Razor Ramon, and Shawn Michaels, and led to another three Tag Team Championships, this time with “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase.
