Popular Talent Bids Emotional Farewell To AEW

News recently broke that Alex Abrahantes’ AEW contract had not been renewed, making him a free agent. And now the 48-year-old has addressed his departure on social media, thanking owner Tony Khan for the opportunity to live his dream of becoming a Spanish-language announcer and manager. In the emotional and inspirational video, he encouraged fans to work hard and believe in themselves, concluding with “So this is a see you later.

“I’m so grateful that Tony gave me the opportunity to do so. And I didn’t want to step away without saying thank you … There’s going to be ups, there’s going to be downs. But as long as you believe in yourself, as long as you work hard, as long as you’re a good person, and as long as you never give up, you’re going to see those dreams through. And trust me, it’s totally worth it. So as for me, I’m not giving up on myself, and I’m certainly not going to be giving up on you. So this is a see you later.”Alex Abrahantes

Abrahantes has over 25 years of industry experience, having trained at the Hart Dungeon and worked on the indies under the name Yutzak Arafat. From there, he joined WWE’s creative team and later worked for TNA, Lucha Libre USA, and ROH. Then, in 2019, he signed with AEW, where he worked in both backstage and on-screen roles, memorably managing the Lucha Brothers and Komander, and even wrestling Mark Sterling in a dark match.
