Earlier this year, a rumor was shared that an Ole Miss student had slept with her boyfriend’s father, which caught the attention of people who enjoy sordid stories. Subsequently, this would be amplified online with WWE commentator and former NFL punter Pat McAfee even discussing this on his popular ESPN show.
However, it turns out that there was no truth to the claims, with AI-generated videos and manipulated photographs being the only form of verification. And now McAfee has addressed his part in making the story go viral, revealing on his show he recently met and apologized to the 18-year-old.
38-year-old McAfee has been involved with WWE since 2018, when he initially started out as a pre-show analyst for NXT’s TakeOver shows. Since then, he has become a color commentator, appearing on both Raw and SmackDown, as well as an in-ring performer, with his biggest match to date being a defeat to Vince McMahon at WrestleMania 38. However, he is currently on hiatus from the company due to mental exhaustion, noting that the travel involved in appearing at Money in the Bank, along with his other obligations, was his breaking point.
