Iconic metal legends Black Sabbath ended their nearly 50-year run with a farewell tour in 2017. Credited as the forefathers of the heavy metal genre, the band has earned countless accolades and have influenced thousands of musicians around the globe.

The band played its final concert on Feb. 4 of 2017 in their home city of Birmingham. Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi recently performed together at the closing ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, also in Birmingham. Iommi also appeared on Ozzy’s latest record, “Patient No. 9,” which sparked talk of a possible Black Sabbath reunion.

In a recent interview with Sirius XM, however, Ozzy says he’s open to collaborations with his Sabbath bandmates, but that the band will remain retired.

“No, not more Black Sabbath,” Ozzy replied when questioned about a reunion. “But I wouldn’t say no to do some more with Tony. Black Sabbath is a completely different music to what I’m into now.”

Ozzy said he didn’t want to keep retreading the same ground in Sabbath.

“Well, it’s kind of, like, how many times do you wanna do the same… it’s the same format, you know?” Ozzy said. “It was very successful for a lot of years, and people wanted to see us. I did that farewell tour. And the only thing about that which was sad Bill Ward wasn’t there. But I’ve spoken to Bill since. He’s all right. I would work with any of them individually. But as Black Sabbath, I think it’s [over]. We couldn’t really beat what we’ve already done.”

Ozzy has been in the rock headlines recently in part to a wide-ranging interview that the singer and his wife, Sharon, gave to Consequence. Sharon blasted Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson in the interview, the couple talked about their move from L.A. back to the U.K., and much more.
