Having begun her WWE journey as part of the company’s SummerSlam weekend tryouts in 2022, Adriana Rizzo has been making her name in NXT as a member of The D’Angelo Family. However, in what looks to be a significant career setback, the 26-year-old former track and field star has announced on Instagram that she has suffered a torn ACL and meniscus, noting this is her second ACL injury.
This type of injury is considered tough to come back from, and has plagued the women of NXT, with Gigi Dolin, Cora Jade, Nikkita Lyons, Arianna Grace, and Sol Ruca having all been sidelined by ACL tears in recent years. And while it’s estimated that women are up to eight times more likely to suffer this injury than a man, the number of females struck down by ACL injuries while training at the WWE Performance Center has led some to suggest the company should review its training regimes.
