Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger Stops Band’s Missouri Concert Mid-Song

Nickelback released a new album last year, “Get Rollin’”, and the band is currently on a North American tour in support of the record. Last week, singer Chad Kroeger and the band suffered a bit of a hiccup during a live show in Missouri when Kroeger revealed to the audience he was struggling with vocal problems.

Kroeger stopped during the band’s fourth song to address the crowd.

“I can’t do this,” he said. “I cannot sit here with a f*cking absolutely destroyed throat and try to make it through this show and pretend like there’s nothing f*cking wrong and take your f*cking money, ’cause that is wrong. I’m having a hard time hittin’ f*ckin’ notes. The doctor just jabbed me in the hip with some prednisone, and we all crossed our fingers backstage hoping this was gonna work. But I cannot, in good conscience, stand up here and sing these f*ckin’ songs and have my voice crack and everything sound like sh*t. It’s driving me f*cking nuts. So, I’ll tell you what. I could give it my best. I could keep just trying and we could just pull the f*ck around if you want to.”

Guitarist Ryan Peake jokingly offered to sing the rest of the show before Kroeger gave it another shot and finished out the show. “F*ck it,” he said. “Let’s start this one over again. I’m just gonna give it all I’ve got.”

The band ended up playing 15 songs, which is a few short of their normal setlist. The band also performed the next night in Milwaukee reportedly without any problems.

Kroeger underwent surgery in 2015 to remove a cyst on his vocal cords, but it’s unclear if that was related to his recent problems or if he was just a bit under the weather.
