Last night MVP, along with RAW Tag Team Champions Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin, lost to Riddle and Lucha House Party. MVP took a bump off the apron during the match, and when he got into the ring shortly afterward, his knee appeared to give way. He would battle while limping on and seemingly complete the match as planned. Although off-camera, he was given help getting to the back.
Despite this, MVP did appear on WWE’s post-Raw show RAW Talk but with crutches. He later posted a photo of the crutches along with the caption “I’m uh po’ some Robitussin on it…” confirming the injury is legit. As of writing, it isn’t known how severe the damage to his knee is, although MVP is traveling this morning to see Jeffrey R. Dugas, MD. He is a surgeon who specializes in orthopedic sports injuries and has previously operated on Finn Bálor and Braun Strowman.
It’s been a remarked 13 months for MVP, who was a surprise entrant in the 2020 Royal Rumble match. He’d compete the following night on Raw, losing to Rey Mysterio, which he believed to have been his final matches. However, WWE brought him back to be a backstage producer and host his “VIP Lounge” segment. Shortly afterward, he aligned himself with Bobby Lashley and went on to sign a multi-year contract with the company aged 46.
