And now, having burnt his bridge with WWE thanks to his negative comments about Triple H, claims are spreading online that he has locker room heat in AEW, with Fightful Select backing this up by reporting that MVP dislikes Speedball Mike Bailey and didn’t want Hurt Syndicate losing to JetSpeed.
Additionally, it’s noted that in the locker room, some talents are frustrated that the group is meant to be a heel faction but “do cool moves, beat up everyone, and give fans fives on the way out.” Still, without citing names, it is impossible to verify these claims, and MVP is seemingly playing this down himself, taking to X shortly after the story broke to dismissively ask, “Heard any good rumors lately?”
51-year-old MVP, real name Alvin Burke Jr., began his wrestling journey in 2002 after spending nine and a half years incarcerated for armed robbery and kidnapping. Subsequently, he would catch WWE’s attention, and in 2005, he signed a contract and was sent to their developmental territory, Deep South Wrestling. From there, he was fast-tracked to the main roster and feuded with names like Matt Hardy, Kane, and Chris Benoit. Yet his main event potential would be squandered after WWE gave him a five-month losing streak, and in 2010, he was released, although thanks to Paul Heyman, he received a second opportunity in the company a decade later.
