When Collision first premiered, it was considered CM Punk’s show, not just because he was arguably the show’s biggest star but also because he was involved backstage. And now Matt Hardy has revealed on his podcast that for reasons unbeknownst to him, someone, most likely CM Punk, cancelled his appearance on the show at short notice despite Hardy having changed his scheduled flights, meaning he’d agreed to sacrifice time with his family for nothing.

“I don’t have the full authority to say, but someone stopped that from happening. I couldn’t imagine it was anyone besides Punk, because that was his show, right? … It was a very unprofessional situation that f*cked me over in my real life, in my actual time. It really p*ssed me off.”Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy debuted for AEW during the March 18, 2020, episode of Dynamite and worked for the promotion for the next four years. Yet with him seemingly having been phased out during the final months of his contract, it didn’t come as a huge surprise when his departure was announced. And while ultimately his AEW run didn’t meet expectations, there were memorable moments, like when he reunited with his brother Jeff.
