As soon as WWE agreed to purchase AAA, fans began to speculate that this could lead to Alberto Del Rio, who now works under the name Alberto El Patrón, returning to the company. Yet, while wrestling reporters almost immediately shot this down, after Rey Mysterio responded, “I’ll bring him. Wait on me,” to fans chanting Alberto’s name during this past weekend’s Triplemanía, many now think Alberto’s return is inevitable.
And now, former WWE Spanish-language commentator Hugo Savinovich, who is friends with Alberto, has addressed this situation on his YouTube channel, noting that Roman Reigns, The Undertaker, Cody Rhodes, John Cena, Drew McIntyre, and several others want him back with the company and have spoken up for him.
48-year-old Alberto became persona non grata in most North American wrestling promotions after serious allegations were made against him regarding the kidnapping and assault of an ex-girlfriend. Still, all charges would end up being dropped after a key witness, believed to be the alleged victim, failed to attend court. Therefore, while the former WWE Champion has never been convicted of a crime, as he was never officially cleared, many fans outside of Mexico consider any potential WWE return to be unpalatable.
