Malakai Black Reveals Why He Requested To Be Exclusive To Collision

When Collision was first announced, many assumed the show would be the beginning of a brand split much in the way Raw, SmackDown, and NXT separate their rosters. That, though, has since proven not to be the case, yet it turns out some talent will be exclusive to the brand, as Malakai Black has revealed while appearing on Bobby Fish’s The Undisputed Podcast that he has purposely asked to be on Collision only, as he wants to have specific night fans know they get to see the House of Black on television.

“I requested to be strictly on Collision. Because I don’t want people to get the pick, it’s like, no, Saturday night, I get to see The House of Black, that’s what I wanted. Because if I give you the option for Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, you’re going to go, ‘It doesn’t really matter.'”

The former WWE star looked set to be a major player in AEW when he debuted by taking out Cody Rhodes and Arn Anderson. And while he was initially pushed strongly, he became less prominent as the months passed. It was, though, later revealed he had been dealing with a back injury that had led him even to contemplate retirement, which possibly explains why he appeared in mainly multi-man matches. Now though, having had time away from wrestling, he looks again set to reach the pinnacle of AEW thanks to his dark charisma and striking athleticism.
