Longtime Injured WWE Wrestler Makes Surprise Ring Return During AAA Show

Following Apollo Crews’ win over Johnny Gargano on the January 24 episode of SmackDown, news spread online that Crews had either suffered a pec or shoulder injury, indicating a spell on the sidelines. Subsequently, Crews would take to social media to confirm it was a pec injury and he was about to undergo surgery, meaning a long layoff. However, in some much-needed good news, the 38-year-old has returned to the ring during AAA’s Alianzas show on Saturday night, defeating Lince Dorado in a dark match.

Crews was trained by former WWE and WCW performer Mr. Hughes and initially worked under the name Uhaa Nation. His big break would then come via Dragon Gate USA and their parent company, Dragon Gate in Japan. This led to him receiving a WWE tryout in 2014, and he was clearly impressed as he was soon signed. And while he was mainly working dark matches before his injury, as a former United States and Intercontinental Champion, he could be set for a significant push now that he is medically cleared to return.
