Talent frequently comes and goes in AEW, with Tony Khan always looking to keep his roster fresh. And now it has been reported by Fightful Select that Mike Santana has officially departed the company. The former tag team specialist had been with the promotion since 2019, having initially joined alongside Ortiz, although he hasn’t wrestled for AEW since October 2023.
33-year-old Santana was previously considered to be one of the top tag team wrestlers in the world. However, he chose to become a singles competitor in AEW after he and his longtime tag partner Ortiz fell out in real life for undisclosed personal reasons. And while it initially appeared AEW was going to give him a push following his return from injury, for some reason, the company stopped using him after just two singles bouts.
