Ever since the passing of frontman Chester Bennington, many metal fans have speculated if they would ever see a new version of Linkin Park. Rumors have swirled over the subject, and adding fuel to the fire was Orgy frontman Jay Gordon hinting that the band would continue with a female lead singer.
Billboard then reported that the band was fielding offers for a possible return in 2025. Guitarist Mike Shinoda has downplayed reunion rumors, but that could all be about to change.
The band has launched a countdown timer on their social media accounts. The countdown clock is set to end on Wednesday, Aug. 28. The Welcome to Rockville X account also shared the countdown clock, leading some to believe the band could be appearing at the Florida-based festival next year.
Linkin Park last performed in late 2017 at a tribute concert to Bennington, who died by suicide on July 20 of the same year.
“Rumors always go around,” Sninoda previously said. “People always ask what’s next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there’s something to tell you, we will tell you. When there’s an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you’re hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it.”
