During this week’s episode of Dynamite, many fans noticed that Kenny Omega was wearing a t-shirt supporting seriously injured Japanese wrestler Masahiro Takanashi. And now, having seemingly been made aware of how this has gotten fans talking online, Omega has taken to X to disclose that Takanashi was his roommate back in 2008 and would help him find places to train in Japan.

For those unaware, 42-year-old Takanashi sadly suffered a neck injury at the conclusion of a match with Chris Brookes in March. Subsequently, it was reported that Takanashi had undergone emergency surgery due to C5 and C6 vertebrae fractures and damage to his cervical spinal cord. Therefore, in an attempt to raise funds to assist his “battle for survival,” AEW’s Emi Sakura launched a GoFundMe, which smashed its initial $40,000 target but is still open for further contributions.
