Not only was Kenny Omega’s career at risk, but so was his life when he was hospitalised with diverticulitis in 2023. Thankfully, the surgery that removed around 20 inches worth of intestines and colon would successfully cure him, and has allowed the Canadian to resume wrestling.
However, during a recent interview, he admitted that there “isn’t much left,” and therefore after Dave Meltzer reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Omega is “battling very serious pain,” fans feared the worst. Still, Omega has played this down, having tweeted “I’ll be fine.”
41-year-old Omega was one of AEW’s first signings, and while his time with the company has been memorable, he has unfortunately missed a considerable amount of ring time due to requiring hernia and knee surgeries in addition to the aforementioned diverticulitis diagnosis. He was also suspended for his part in the now-infamous All Out post-show brawl, further reducing his ring time.
