It’s been known for some time that Keith Lee has been dealing with an injury since 2022, and things recently got so bad that he was forced to miss his highly anticipated match with Swerve Strickland at Worlds End. And now it has been reported that the former NXT Champion is set to undergo two surgeries, having shared this news himself on a private social media account. Precisely what these procedures are is currently unknown, but hopefully, he won’t be forced to miss too much more time from the ring.
“Took roughly 19 years…. but I guess it’s my turn, time to get fixed. Here’s to double surgeries. Certainly one way to start 2024.”
Keith Lee39-year-old Lee was considered a can’t-miss talent in WWE, and Vince McMahon even told Randy Orton to make him look like a star when they first wrestled. Yet, McMahon would sour on Lee and sent him to receive additional training, seemingly wanting to change what made him stand out. Subsequently, after missing several months due to his heart becoming inflamed, he debuted a new gimmick as an homage to Bearcat Wright, but despite this, he was still released in 2021. However, almost as soon as he was legally able to, he joined AEW, where he has experienced mixed fortunes.
