John Cena Sr. Names The Wrestlers He Would Have Chosen To Be His Son’s Final Opponent

John Cena’s retirement match is fast approaching, with either LA Knight or Gunther set to be his final opponent. However, some fans have stated that they believe Cena’s final match should have been against someone with whom he had a history. And now, during an interview with the All Axxess Podcast, Cena’s father has named his choices as Kurt Angle, Edge, Chris Jericho, or JBL, seemingly as all were long-term rivals to his son.

“Who would I like to see John face? Obviously, I just kind of emphasised that. I would say Kurt Angle number one. I would say Adam Copeland number two, I would say Chris Jericho number three, and a wild card on my part. I’d love to see John Cena face JBL.”John Cena Sr.

As far as it’s known, none of the four men mentioned were ever realistically possible, as Angle and JBL are long retired, and Edge and Jericho are with AEW. Therefore, WWE’s options were limited, with the company seemingly deciding to have Cena help establish someone on his way out, rather than rely on nostalgia.
