Jim Ross Breaks Silence On D-Von Dudley’s Recent Racism Accusation

D-Von Dudley recently made headlines after accusing fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross of racism during an interview. While the tag team legend wouldn’t outright name Ross, enough hints were dropped that it was obvious who he was referring to. And now, having seemingly decided he doesn’t want to remain silent on the topic anymore, the current AEW commentator has firmly denied this allegation on his podcast, noting he was the person who signed him to his first WWE contract.

That’s so absurd. It shouldn’t even merit a response. I like D-Von. I like him today. I hired him and Bubba. I thought we did a good job of booking them. I was shocked to hear that, because I don’t recall ever having a crossword with D-Von Dudley.

I always respected him and his work. I never said that to D-Von Dudley. Why he would conjure that up, I guess to get attention, I don’t know … Ask Shelton Benjamin. Ask the African-American athletes I signed. If JYD was here, ask him. I respected D-Von then, and I respect him now.”Jim Ross

73-year-old Ross began his wrestling career in 1974 as a referee with NWA Tri-State, transitioning to announcer in Mid-South Wrestling/UWF, then WCW. This would lead to him joining WWE in 1993 and becoming the iconic play-by-play voice of the Attitude Era alongside Jerry Lawler. Therefore, many fans of that time period consider him to be wrestling’s greatest ever announcer.
