Jerry Lynn Claps Back At Wrestlers Who Don’t Like Being Approached By Fans In Public

In recent years, many wrestlers have taken to social media to bash fans who approach them in public, with CM Punk likely the most vocal about not wanting to be bothered when at the airport or his hotel. However, while many agree that fans need boundaries, former ECW and WWE wrestler Jerry Lynn has a much different take, telling Monte & The Pharaoh during a recent interview that fans are “the reason I have a career.

“When I hear wrestlers say, ‘If you see me at the airport or in public, don’t approach me,’ I’m like, I’m sorry, but the fans are the reason you have a job. I understand if someone walks up to your table in the middle of a meal and interrupts you. That’s never happened to me. I’ve had fans wait at the door of a restaurant until I’m done eating. I’ve had fans come up to me in hotel lobbies, at airports, wherever. But I always give them time, because they’re the reason I have a career.

I get it, some people come with a whole board full of pictures and want you to sign twenty of them. Just say, ‘I can only sign one,’ and move on. Don’t get all offended about it. You chose to be in the spotlight. You chose this job. The fans are why you have it.”Jerry Lynn

Jerry Lynn debuted in 1988 and retired in 2013 after a 25-year in-ring career. During that time, he competed for WWE, WCW, ROH, TNA, and, most famously, ECW, where he held their World Heavyweight Championship. Therefore, once he stopped performing, it made perfect sense for him to embrace a backstage role, and he is currently both a producer and coach for AEW.
