WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts has battled numerous health issues stemming from his wrestling career and addictions over the years. And while it’s known he is doing far better since overcoming drug and alcohol dependencies, he was diagnosed with COPD in 2020, so he uses an oxygen tank intermittently. And now, having undergone heart ablation surgery last year, it’s understood he had hip surgery on Tuesday, which his wife Cheryl has since declared on Facebook as “a huge success.“
70-year-old Roberts joined AEW in March 2020 and made his debut with a menacing promo targeting Cody Rhodes and revealing Lance Archer as his client. However, his time with AEW has been very stop-and-start due to the aforementioned health issues and creative changes. Still, the wrestling legend keeps having his contract renewed, allowing him to serve as a special advisor for AEW’s community outreach program.
