Following shocking allegations made against him in a new lawsuit, Vince McMahon resigned from TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, on Friday. In a statement made to Deadline he would say he was in this “out of respect for the WWE Universe, TKO, shareholders, and business partners.” And while this news wasn’t unexpected, the timing was considered fast. And now PWinsider.com has reported that internally, the reaction to this decision was both “happiness” and “relief,” with seemingly many who work for the company being happy to see the back of McMahon.
This is the second time McMahon has departed WWE, the company he made a global phenom in disgrace. However, while after the first time, he was able to maneuver his way back when the heat died down, it seems highly doubtful any such return is possible now as he no longer has the voting power, and any allies he still had expected to also follow him out the door.
