At The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, WWE has scheduled Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins in an “Eye for an Eye” match. Disturbingly to win, one man must extract the other’s eye. How WWE planned to pull this off was a mystery, and it was assumed some type of prosthetic would be required. However, in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has reported that WWE is planning to pre-tape the match and then use CGI special effects to show the eye-removal.
While the whole premise of the match is outlandish, it will likely result in many fans watching the show out of curiosity to see the extraction.
With Rey Mysterio currently wrestling without a contract, it would seem most likely he will be the one to lose his eye since WWE could quickly write him off television. That said, Seth Rollins is capable of pulling off the eye-patch look, like his former Shield stable-mate Jon Moxley did in AEW.
