When the trailer for Dark Side of the Ring Season 7 dropped, wrestling fans were stunned to see AEW owner Tony Khan prominently featured. And now, while speaking on Talk Is Jericho, producer Evan Husney has revealed exactly how it came together. The explanation was that, while filming Jeff Jarrett backstage at an AEW event for a three-part TNA feature, the WWE Hall of Famer casually suggested that Khan sit down for a segment. Subsequently, Khan, who has watched every episode, eagerly agreed and delivered far more than anyone expected.
“Jeff is working for AEW now. We went backstage, we filmed some B-roll with Jeff, and then he was like, ‘Hey, what if Tony sat down to speak a little bit about me, in terms of where I’m at now and things like that?’ And I was like, ‘That’d be awesome. He’s a fan of the show. He watches the show. He’s seen all the episodes. He was just so keen to speak about Jeff, but just obviously to speak about wrestling, as, you know, he’s just a huge fan, and he knows a lot about it. So it was great. It was so unexpected, but it was very cool.” – Evan Husney
