In heartbreaking news, Sam Rivers, best known for being the founding bass player of Limp Bizkit, has passed away at the age of 48. The band announced his tragic passing on Instagram, declaring “your music never ends.” No official cause of death was publicly disclosed, although it’s known Rivers had battled alcohol-related liver disease, which previously resulted in him needing a transplant.
As part of Limp Bizkit, Rivers helped define nu-metal with albums like 1997’s “Three Dollar Bill, Y’all,” and 1999’s “Significant Other,” subsequently winning the Best Bass Player at the 2000 Gibson Awards. And while he took a break from the band he helped establish due to a medical hiatus in 2015, he rejoined in 2018, contributing up until his death.
