In sad news, it has been disclosed by Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling on X that deaf and mute wrestler “Silent” Brian Mackney has passed away aged 77. As of writing, no cause of death has been announced, with it unclear whether the Canadian former enhancement wrestler had been in poor health.
Mackney broke into the business in 1972, and although he never achieved mainstream stardom, he did notably work for WWF/WWE, New Japan, and All Japan. This would see him share a ring with several future legends of the sport, among them Randy Savage, Terry Funk, Antonio Inoki, and Ric Flair, with his role to make them look good. Given his spot on the card, he wouldn’t win any championships, but was still honored by Great White North Wrestling via a lifetime achievement award in 2019.
